VENTURE NORTH

In 2011, Redeemer Center for Life created Venture North as a full-service bike shop and café that helps the surrounding community see cycling as a viable option for healthy, affordable and sustainable transportation.

At Venture North, professional mechanics offer a variety of programs for all ages, skills and economic backgrounds that help people get excited about cycling, confident in their skills, and knowledgeable about bike safety. We also employ local youth, teaching them mechanical, business and leadership skills.

We are making the Harrison neighborhood of North Minneapolis an empowering, healthy place to live by increasing racial, economic, and gender equity within the biking community.

THE

LIVING ROOM

The Living Room is a community space that hosts activities and events by neighbors, for neighbors. It's a place to meet new people and have important conversations about what is happening in Harrison neighborhood.

URBAN FARM

In 2008, the Redeemer Center apartment windows looked out over a trash-strewn piece of land behind the ally. Since then, it has become an urban farm with raised beds and lush produce - a symbol of hope and healing that defines the Redeemer community.

At the Redeemer Urban Farm people come together to share their culturally diverse practices of growing and preparing food. In the end, they come together to share more than food—they share a part of themselves over the weekly meal prepared from the garden-fresh produce at cookouts every Wednesday evening in July and at our block parties in August. The door is always open to anyone who’d like a seat at the table to cultivate a spirit of community that began with the seeds of spring.

Together, we are part of a movement to build a local food system that sustains the wealth and health of us all. By employing and developing youth leaders, sharing knowledge with each other about growing and eating fresh produce, and working together with our neighbors we are helping create a truly equitable, community-based food system.
