RENTAL HOUSING

RCFL directly addresses the need for attainable housing in the Harrison neighborhood by providing 24 affordable living units: 16 efficiencies, 6 two-bedroom apartments & 1 three-bedroom apartment, and 1 single-family home. Securing stable, affordable housing is essential for the health, confidence, and overall well-being of individuals and families. Housing stability within this supportive community allows our residents the capacity to thrive within community, family, and work.

Why this program is needed

For individuals and families in the Harrison Neighborhood, difficulty securing supportive, stable housing so they can thrive within their community and ultimately attain independent housing security is a rampant reality.

What is RCFL Affordable Housing? When a household allocates no more than 30% of their annual income towards their rent or mortgage, that housing is deemed affordable for that family.

Most residents come to RCFL with experiences of housing insecurity. In general, North Minneapolis renters have a history of high mobility and housing instability along with disproportionately frequent predatory rental experiences. The growing gentrification of North Minneapolis further exacerbates the challenge of finding attainable housing opportunities. As market-rate rents displace residents and push them further into housing insecurity, low-income young adults and families are especially put at risk for homelessness.

How it works

RCFL provides 24 units of attainable housing in a supportive community, providing continuity and stability for residents while simultaneously providing a steady income that helps to support other Redeemer programs. We house 54 residents and maintain 100% capacity.
